Fayez Tlaib
Fayez Tlaid used to be the husband of politician, Rashida Tlaib –a Democrat who represents Michigan’s 13th Congressional district.
Fayez’s ex-wife is grabbing headlines after using an expletive Thursday in pushing for impeaching President Donald Trump –just hours after being sworn in to Congress.
By now, Rashida is one of few Democratic lawmakers to call for Trump’s removal from office and has done so even before she ran for Congress. In the past, she also made headlines after she got kicked out of an event in Michigan where Trump was speaking. She had interrupted the then-Republican presidential nominee to ask if he had ever read the Constitution.
Born July 24, 1976; the Michigan native is the daughter of Palestinian immigrant parents. She attended Detroit Public Schools. She holds a B.A. in political science from Wayne State University and earned her law degree from Western Michigan University.
In 2008, the lawyer became the first Muslim woman to ever serve in the Michigan Legislature. She served three terms rising to the Democratic Chair of the House Appropriations Committee.
As for her personal life, she was described as a single mother in her campaign, truth is she used to be married and is now divorced from ex-husband, Fayez Tlaib. During their marriage the welcomed two children, sons Adam and Yousif.
Fayez Tlaib and Rashida tied the knot in 1998, at the time she was 22-years-old. The couple went their separate ways in 2015. The former couple made headlines when reports surfaced saying they consistently underpaid their taxes since 2008. Rashida then blamed Fayez.
Not many details are known about Mr. Tlaib –he is from Beit Ur al-Fauqa –but other than that he has virtually disappeared from her life. In the past, Rashida was quoted saying that her former husband had been very supportive of her career from the beginning.
