Carrie Symonds is the lovely girlfriend of British politician Boris Johnson who has been elected new Conservative leader in a ballot of party members.

Carrie’s 55-year-old boyfriend has won the race to be the new Tory leader and will become the next UK prime minister.
Johnson began his career as a journalist. He worked at the Times of London until he was fired in 1988 for fabricating a quote. He also served as the Brussels correspondent covering the European Union for the Telegraph (where he still has a column) from 1989 to 1994.
Johnson became a Conservative member of Parliament in 2001. In 2008, he mounted a bid to become the mayor of London — and won in a stunning upset, defeating the Labour candidate and incumbent Ken Livingstone.

She is a PR executive who worked as head of press at Conservative Campaign Headquarters. She left the role shortly before it was publicly revealed she was dating Boris Johnson.

Her parents are Matthew Symonds, who co-founded the Independent, and Josephine Mcaffee, who was one of the paper’s lawyers.

She was a child in south west London and went to Godolphin and Latymer School, an independent school for girls in Hammersmith. She went to Warwick University where she got a first class degree in art history and theatre studies.

She joined the Conservative HQ as a press officer and quickly rose through the ranks becoming head of the party PR machine at 29. She has worked for Sajid Javid when he was Communities Secretary, and for John Whittingdale during his time as Culture Secretary. She also worked alongside Michael Gove and Amber Rudd. PR Week listed her second in the top 10 figures in political communications in 2018.

She left Conservative Party PR last year to start work at Bloomberg’s Vibrant Oceans program. She is part of the international marketing communications team and is based in London.

#8 She met Boris years ago

It is believed Carrie Symonds and Boris first met professionally in 2012 when she was moved from party HQ to work on his London mayoral re-election campaign. However, little is known for definite about how they got together. Boris Jonhson split from his wife of 25-years Marina Wheeler in 2018. 

#9 Their relationship has been scandalous

The pair found themselves splashed over the front pages after a heated row was recorded by a concerned neighbour at Ms Symonds’ home, where they both live, in south London.
Neighbours reported hearing her tell the MP to “get out” and “get off me”, and there were reports of plates being thrown.

#10 She had an encounter with serial sex attacker John Worboys

In 2009, she told The Telegraph how she had accepted a lift off black cab taxi rapist John Worboys in 2007, and how she nearly became another of his victims.
She said: “I felt indebted to him because he had given me a cheap lift home. But when I got the glass I secretly poured it on to the floor as I was worried it might be spiked.”
