Claude Chirac

Claude Chirac is the daughter of French late politician, Jacques René Chirac -who died over the weekend at age 86.

Claude’s father served two terms as president and twice as prime minister. Jacques Chirac was the President of France and ex officio Co-Prince of Andorra from 1995 to 2007. Chirac was previously the Prime Minister of France from 1974 to 1976 and from 1986 to 1988, as well as the Mayor of Paris from 1977 to 1995.
Claude stood alone by her father’s grave as she said her last goodbye to the former French President.
Claude Chirac bowed her head towards the tombstone at the Paris cemetery where France’s former head of state was laid to rest. The former president is preceded in death by elder daughter Laurence and is survived by daughter Claude. Meet her below.

#1 Claude Chirac’s older sister died in 2016

Claude was born to her father’s marriage to Bernadette Chodron de Courcel -on December 6, 1962. She had an older sister, Laurence -born March 4, 1958. Laurence is known to have suffered from anorexia and mental health issues in her youth. She had many suicide attempts and died of a heart attack in 2016.

#2 Claude studied economics

She studied economics at Paris II. In 1986, she posed for Elle and embarked on a media career becoming head of advertising two years later.

#3 She was active in politics

After having worked for Euro RSCG, an advertising agency, Claude Chirac directed the communication of the candidate CHIRAC for the 1995 presidential election campaign. She became “Communication, Press and Opinion Advisor” to President Jacques Chirac during his 2 mandates. In 2007, she was appointed Head of Communications for the luxury group KERING. In 2012 she joined the Board of Directors of the CHIRAC Foundation and became its Vice-President.

#4 She was in a number of relationships before getting married

Claude Chirac was Vincent Lindon’s partner for many years. In 1992, she married Philippe Habert, political scientist. The latter dies of excessive drug absorption at thirty-four years a few months after the ceremony. She was also linked to Nicolas Sarkozy, who was even his wedding witness. Claude was next romantically involved to judoka Thierry Rey. In 2011, she married Frédéric Salat-Baroux.
