Emmanuelle Petillon is the wife of wealthy Upper West Side entrepreneur, Charles Welsh.

Emmanuelle’s husband is said to have tried to destroy his $4.7 million brownstone with a gas explosion in a failed suicide bid. The reason for his suicide attempt? It all points out that Petillon leaving him could have been the reason.

It would seem that Mr. Welsh would’ve had preferred to lose the pricey property instead of losing it on a bitter divorce. Welsh bought the brownstone in 2008 for $4.7 million and took out a $1 million mortgage on it six years later, records show.

He conveyed half of the value of the home to his wife Emmanuelle Petillon in 2012, records show.

Welsh is the founder of Inside International Industries, a financial information organization, and previously co-founded the Mergermarket Group. He has previously worked for the Financial News, Newsweek and Xreporter.

He has been covering exclusively European mergers and acquisitions since 1995. He heads the Intelligence area. He served as senior M&A correspondent at the Financial News.

According to Bloomberg, Welsh graduated from the London School of Economics in 1992 and attained an MIA from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University in 1994.

Following the small explosion, Welsh was charged with arson and taken to Mount Sinai St. Luke’s hospital after managing to set off only a small blast in the basement of his home off Amsterdam Ave.

Not much more is known about his estranged wife, Emmanuelle Petillon. However, records show the couple are the parents of three children. Welsh also serves on a committee at the Dwight School, a tony Upper West Side private school.
