Emma Coronel Aispuro
Emma Coronel Aispuro is otherwise known as the woman brave enough to have had a romantic relationship with none other than, Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman –the feared Mexican drug lord.
Emma who is married to Guzman, has been a constant in his ongoing trial. Emma’s husband is currently facing federal trial on charges of plotting the international drug trade beyond Mexican borders.
El Chapo was arrested in Mexico on February 22, 2014, but escaped from prison on July 11, 2015. He was caught early in 2016 and was extradited to the US in January 2017.
The infamous kingpin had only a simple request for the judge after his trial began on November 5th; to embrace his wife, Emma Coronel Aispuro. The judge has yet to rule an answer on his request.

Emma Coronel Aispuro, born July 3, 1989; is a California native having been born near San Francisco. However she was raised in Durango, a remote state town in the State of Sinaloa, Mexico.
#2 Her father is a drug lord
Emma Coronel Aispuro was born to parents, Ines Coronel Barreras and Blanca Estela Aispuro. Her father, cattle rancher, Ines Coronel Barreras –is a former high-ranking leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, currently serving a ten-year sentence for drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms.
#3 She is a former beauty queen
Emma competed in the local Coffee and Guava Festival in 2007, when she was just 17. She won the title.
#4 She was a teen when she met El Chapo
After meeting her, the powerful drug lord is said to have fallen in love with Emma Coronel when he saw her at a beauty pageant in the Mexican state of Durango in 2007.
#5 They have been married for over a decade
El Chapo, 47 at the time, wooed the young Coronel, who eventually married him on her 18th birthday. The two have been hitched since 2007.

Emma gave birth at 23-years-old. She gave birth to twin girls in 2011. She named them, María Joaquina and Emali Guadalupe
#7 Her children do not have their father’s name
Their father’s name was left blank on the birth certificate because there was a $5million bounty on his head at the time. The children were born in LA.

Emma has been vocal about professing her undying devotion and love for her husband. She often tweets in Spanish the likes of: “The night arrives and my heart remembers you, here where you always reside and where no one will erase you or replace you.” She’s also claimed he is the true love of her life.

For her first TV appearance, Emma seemed somber and feeling sorry for her husband as she spoke about him saying
“They [the guards] don’t let him sleep, and he has no privacy, not even to go to the bathroom,”
