Lloyd Blankfein and Laura Jacobs were married on June 19, 1983. Their wedding was announced in the New York Post by her parents on May 15 of 1983. Here’s what it said:

“Mr. and Mrs. Norman S. Jacobs of New York have made known the engagement of their daughter, Laura Susan Jacobs, to Lloyd Craig Blankfein, son of Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Blankfein of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.  The future bride is an associate with the New York law firm of Phillips, Nizer, Benjamin, Krim & Ballon. She graduated from the Fieldston School and magna cum laude from Barnard College, and received her law degree from Georgetown University.  Mr. Blankfein is a trader of precious metals with J. Aron & Company, the commodities trading division of Goldman Sachs & Company in New York. He graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Law School.”

Not bad for a guy who sold hot dogs at Yankee Stadium for cash when he was in school!

A couple of years earlier, he was a tax lawyer, but had been wanting to go into the financial world. When Blankfein told his then fiancée, Laura Jacobs, that he was leaving law to go to J. Aron, she cried, thinking the comfortable life she was counting on would now be jeopardized. He did anyway and began to work on gold bullion sales desk, to trade commodities. Well, we know the rest of that story!

He and Laura have three children, Alexander, who recently got married, Jonathan and daughter Rachel. Both sons graduated from Harvard, and Rachel is now a student there.

Laura and Lloyd reside in New York on the Upper East Side, but also have homes in Bridgehampton and in Sagaponak. Nice to be rich…

Well, now husband Lloyd is looking to incentivate some economic growth in Detroit through loans as well as business support from Goldman Sachs in the 10,000 small business program. We hope that this experiment pans out well for everyone.
