Helen Wray
Helen Wray is the proud wife of FBI Director Christopher Wray -who has served in the top job since 2017.
Helen’s husband is a lawyer who previously served as Assistant Attorney General in the George W. Bush Administration.
The New York native graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Yale University in 1989 and earned his law degree from Yale Law School in 1992. He clerked for Judge J. Michael Luttig of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Prior to becoming the FBI director, Chris was a litigation partner with the law firm King & Spalding -where he spent a total of almost 17 years practicing law in the area of government investigations and white-collar crime. At the time of his nomination, Chris Wray was chair of the firm’s Special Matters and Government Investigations Practice Group.

Helen Wray was born Helen Garrison Howell to parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Howell of Atlanta. In fact, her family has deep roots in Atlanta; her great-grandfather, Clark Howell, once owned The Atlanta Constitution, which later merged with the Atlanta Journal to form The Atlanta Journal-Constitution; and served as mayor of Atlanta.
#2 Her father was vice president at the First National Bank of Atlanta
Helen Wray’s father, Henry Howell, worked for 30 years for the First National Bank of Atlanta, which later merged with Wachovia. He did commercial, international, and private banking.

Helen Wray graduated from the Westminster Schools and was the business manager of The Yale Daily News. She met her husband while attending Yale and were both members of the class of 1989 at Yale University.
#4 Howell Mill Road is named after her family
Howell Mill Road is named after the Howells. The street name originated from a mill named after the family, which was located on Peachtree Creek. The Wrays currently live in a home, valued at $2.3 million, not far from Howell Mill Road.
